I had my first swimming lesson with Individuality last night at the age of 26, and it was a fantastic experience. I can already swim, but I’ve signed up for my first triathlon and wanted to improve my front crawl technique.

My instructor, Zoe, was wonderful—really encouraging, supportive, and full of helpful advice. She quickly identified areas I could improve and explained everything clearly, which made a big difference.

The lesson took place at Hamworthy Park Junior School, and the facilities were lovely and very clean, which made the whole experience even better.

I’ll definitely be booking another session in a few weeks and practising what I’ve learned in the meantime. I’d highly recommend Individuality Swimming to anyone, no matter your age or ability, you’re never too old to improve and enjoy learning something new!

My daughter has had lessons with Jodie for just over a year now. It's her favourite club each week and she can't wait to get in the pool! Jodie is a great instructor, not only just because she's taught her to swim. She makes lessons fun, always makes her laugh & has made her confidence grow! Absolutely amazing! They have always tried to accommodate siblings swimming on the same day, Beccy has been particularly helpful with that. Both swim instructors, Jodie and Tasmin, are superb. Highly recommended!

I have been taking my 21 month old for over a year to Andrew’s class in Ferndown and I cannot recommend this class enough! We recently went on holiday and I couldn’t get her out of the water, including the toddler slides (going down by herself!!). This class has not only taught her social interaction, basic skills to swim but most importantly, she has no fear of water which is so important.
Andrew is always so friendly and welcoming, has an AMAZING singing voice and just generally brilliant.

We’ve been with Individuality Swimming School for over 4 years now, and it’s been an absolute joy watching our little human’s journey and confidence in the water grow week by week. The progress they’ve made is brilliant, but even more importantly, they genuinely love their lessons.

A special shout out to Jodie, his current tutor, who is fantastic. Patient, encouraging and brilliant at building confidence while still keeping things fun. We also want to say a big thank you to Vicky, Anand, Rhianna and Andy, who have all played a key part in his journey over the years. Every instructor we’ve come across has been supportive, professional and clearly passionate about what they do.

If you’re looking for a swimming school that really cares about your child’s development and confidence in the water, we couldn’t recommend Individuality Swimming School highly enough.

We have been with Individuality for 5 years now and my children love their swimming lessons! I like the small class sizes and getting to know other parents and children. The transitions from parent-and-child classes to child-only, to after-school ones have all been handled smoothly. We’ve had some lovely teachers but Andrew is our favourite! Whenever we need to move classes, I always ask for his availability. He makes the classes really fun.

Our 8yo son is currently in beginner 2 lessons with Zoe at Hamworthy.

He started with Individuality when he was 8wks old, but we had to stop due to Covid. Unfortunately he developed a water phobia during the lockdowns. We’ve tried other cheaper swim schools, but the larger groups sizes didn’t suit his needs.

Not a criticism but an observation, I would prefer it if the Parent Portal were updated more often so that I can track progress!

My son has been attending 1-2-1 lessons with Andrew since November 2024, when he was 6 years old.
He is Autistic, with ADHD and GDD and so finding the best possible swim school for his needs was incredibly important to me.

When he first started he had a really big phobia of the water and was extremely clingy and would continually scream upon entering the pool.
Fast forward to today and I see a happy and confident little boy in the water, working towards front crawl!

Andrew is incredibly kind, patient and understanding of my son's needs and pushes him week on week to achieve his swimming goals, in a way which is fun!
Tim is also wonderful with him and he regularly enjoys a little chat and a big high five before we leave to come home after his lessons.
I would happily recommend them to anyone! 🙂

We’ve been coming for 2 years now to swimming to Individuality.
Since we have Jodie, my son’s. Swimming skills has massively improved.
Matt is a lovely addition to the class and I think it’s a must to have a male energy as sometimes kids can be cheeky.

My daughter Sienna joined individuality Swimming in the Parent and child class and now working towards her ducking 4 badge and certificate. The classes are well tailored, fun and exciting. My daughter instructor is Andrew I have to say he is amazing with the children engaging makes them laugh whist giving clear instruction there is helpers in the pool too. Fantastic classes. My child has been taught by Andrew for over a year, from parent and child classes, to now small group. From the first lesson, Andrew has been brilliant. Arthur’s water confidence, skill development and progress has been outstanding. Arthur loves his swimming lessons with Andrew and Verity! He regularly asks if it’s ’Andrew and Verity day’ when he wakes up on a Saturday. We could go to swimming lessons closer to our locality, but, because of Andrew and Verity’s bond and relationship with Arthur, we continue to attend at Talbot school. Both of my children go to Individuality, my daughter has Andrew at Ferndown on a Tuesday evening and she absolutely loves it. Andrew really concentrates on getting the children to perfect their strokes and breathing etc but also makes the classes interactive and fun. Andrew has been teaching my son to swim on a 1 - 1 basis over the last year or so.

My son has additional SEND needs, he struggles to learn in a group setting and via traditional approach.

Andrew has been incredibly patient and encouraging. Keen Taylor his approach of teaching to accommodate my son's needs.

Andrew has been teaching my daughter to swim since she was under one year old, and now three and a half, she absolutely loves the water. Thanks to Andrew she’s so confident and happy in the water.

He has shown incredible patience throughout her learning journey and always tailors the lessons to suit her pace and personality. What really stands out is how he brings a sense of playfulness into every session, which keeps her engaged while still building her skills.

It’s clear he genuinely cares about the children he teaches, and his calm, encouraging approach has made such a positive difference to her confidence in the water. We feel very lucky to have found him and couldn’t recommend him more highly.

Willow always enjoys her swimming Lessons with Tim and Jodie. It’s all about fun learning for her, concentration is very short span.
She has very complex special needs and Tim and Jodie have adapted their lessons to suit Willow. They very often have to change how they can keep Willows interest. They do this by incorporating, little challenges, songs and strategies to help her improve.
We’re so impressed that Tim has learnt sign language also.
Tim and Jodie always include us by asking about Willow and they both show great patience and awareness when she looses concentration or simply doesn’t want to do something.
Willow has great confidence in the water and between them they have built a relationship whereby she can trust Tim and Jodie..

We couldn’t be happier with our experience at individual swimming.My daughter started lesson at very young age. The instructors have been absolutely outstanding from day one. They are professional, patient and incredibly attentive, always making sure each child feel safe, supported and confident in water. What really stand out is how well they tailor their approach to each child’s needs. Watching my child from months old and being nervous around the Poole till 9 years later and how confidently swimming, it’s all thanks to the dedication and care of the amazing people at individual swimming.

I highly recommend these swimming lessons at individual swimming to any parent looking for high-quality instruction.

Extremely disappointing experience. This company feels like a complete money grab — they seem far more interested in taking payments than providing any real customer service. The office team is unresponsive and unhelpful, and getting any kind of support or clear communication is nearly impossible. The instructors look bored and disengaged, which really shows in the lessons. Definitely not worth the money — I’d recommend looking elsewhere for swimming lessons.

I’ve been taking my daughter for her weekly swimming lessons for a year now and she’s come on loads in her swimming and confidence in the water. You or more like your child needs so be prepared that their swimming instructor can change at a moments notice. The instructor that stands out the most is Andrew. He is brillant at what he does and the kids really respond and learn lots. Many thanks to Andrew.

Excellent swimming school. All the instructors I had when I attended weekly 1:1 lessons were very knowledgeable, friendly and went above and beyond to help improve my swimming. The Monday evening swim fitness classes at BCS that I went to were also really fun with a wide variety of swim sets (and challenging in a good way!) and the instructors were great. Thank you.

Amazing help from these guys! I went to Individuality Swimming because I’d been having swimming lessons for 6 months and still couldn’t swim. Within 3 lessons I was finally able to complete basic strokes. From that point I continued with some more lessons and in a total of 13 weeks I now not just swim but I swim so nicely and Andy able to enjoy the hobby daily which was always my lifelong dream! I’m so thrilled with the progress I made and I definitely made the right choice coming to these guys who really took the time to ensure I was getting it and actually, tangibly making progress! Thanks to all the team who assisted me getting to where I am now! :-))

My daughter has attended weekly at Talbot primary since October, and also just completed a 1 week intensive course. All the instructors are very patient and we particularly found the 1 wk course useful in speeding up her progress.
Having had a bad experience at a different swim school, we moved to individuality last year and found the instructors, assistants, and office team are all brilliant. Verity in particular has been so patient with our daughter recently, when she lost some confidence and was reluctant to join in.
Would recommend.

In June I attended the aqua-natal classes instructed by Sarah through the third trimester of my pregnancy.

These classes really helped me relieve my anxieties of pregnancy after a previous late loss of a baby and helped me to feel more energised through the last stages of pregnancy and before labour.

I’ve always loved to be in the water, and always feel relaxed in water, so to be able to continue to do this was wonderful.
Sarah the instructor was very friendly, welcoming, caring and adapted to my needs week by week and I felt really safe with her.

It was also lovely meeting and being able to talk to other Mum’s at the same stage of pregnancy.

These sessions enabled me to have time to focus on just myself and the pregnancy for a short while which was really important. The timings mean’t that I could still be there for my other child’s bedtime before attending.

Thank you individuality swimming for this opportunity and thank you Sarah. I will be looking at booking baby sessions soon!

I will be recommending the aqua-natal sessions to all my expecting friends.

Fantastic! My son has been having 1-1 lessons for approx 6 weeks and the improvement seen in him is incredible. He has gone from being nervous around water to swimming with floaties. Our teacher has been nothing but welcoming, understanding and accommodating. Highly highly highly recommend!!

Her teacher Will is amazing and so kind, he has Taught her to be a very capable and very confident swimmer.
Our experience with the school has been so good and I would highly recommend.

My daughter just had her first 1-2-1 lesson with Jodie. We were very nervous as she has tried teo swimming instructors so far (group sessions) with no luck. This was following her first set of lessons age 1 where she was dunked and it created a phobia where she would actually vomit on sight of a pool. Jodie was brilliant, so kind and understanding of her nerves, by the end of the lesson my daughter was actually gliding into the pool into Jodie's arms! We couldn't be prouder or more thankful to Jodie for her brilliant teaching!

Unfortunately our lessons ended on a sour note due to poor communication and clarification on the cancellation policy. After lessons with Anand - who was a great instructor, really warm, friendly, and great with my baby boy - for a number of months I had to cancel my lessons due to returning to work. Despite explaining this, and giving a months notice as requested I was charged for lessons 5 weeks after giving my months notice. This is apparently due to how the direct debits are arranged - it is not clear from the terms and conditions that this could end up being the case, and in our current financial situation at the end of maternity leave this is obviously not what we wanted to hear.

We did not receive any understanding or compromise from Hannah upon discussion of the matter; she even said other people have raised this point in the past, but they clearly haven’t clarified the T&Cs and take advantage of those who don’t make the exact date of when the cancellation notice needs to be received.

I also had to chase sorting out payment due to be returned to myself after a lesson was cancelled earlier in the year and they said they’d adjust the direct debit the following month.. they did not and I had to call multiple times to get this money back.

My two daughters have been swimming with Individuality for the past few years and I am so happy with the confidence they have gained in the water. The communication from head office is great, as is the online portal. We have been particularly happy with our eldest's teacher, Vladka. She's so great and we were sad to leave her when moving to the next class!
