STA Level 2 Award in Teaching Swimming – 5 Day Course

Recognised internationally, allowing you to take your swimming teaching career around the world
Prerequisites – Be at least 16 years old.
Once qualified
- You will be able to gain employment as a swimming teacher who can teach the four keystrokes, essential swimming skills and water safety skills to adult and child participants
- You’ll be qualified to deliver up to Grade 7, excluding diving, of the STA Learn to Swim Programme and Goldfish stage of the STA’s International Learn to Swim Programme
- Access free online support and resources which are helpful for new and experienced teachers
- Your course resource manual will act as a guide throughout your swimming teaching journey – always there for you to refer back to, should you need it.

STA Level 2 Certificate in Teaching Swimming – 5 Day Course
Building upon the Level 2 Award, this certificate qualifies individuals to teach learners of all levels, including advanced swimming techniques, competitive starts, turns, and survival skills.
Prerequisites:
– Be at least 16 years old.
– Hold the STA Award in Swimming Teaching or a recognised equivalent
(The Swim England Level 1 Award in Aquatic Teaching is not accepted)
Once qualified
- You will be able to gain employment as a swimming teacher who can teach non-swimmers through to advanced participants including advanced swimming skills to adult and child participants
- You’ll be qualified to deliver the full range of the of the STA Learn to Swim Programme and International Learn to Swim Programme
- Your course resource manual will act as a guide throughout your swimming teaching journey – always there for you to refer to should you need it
- Keep your knowledge and skills up-to-date with regular CPDs.

STA Level 2 Award in Aquatic Teaching – Baby and Pre-School
Baby and pre-school teachers are able to seek employment in a wide variety of leisure facilities including private health clubs and school swimming pools through to large local authority leisure centres.
Prerequisites:
– Be at least 18 years old.
– Hold the STA Safeguarding Children, Young People and Vulnerable
– Adults certificate or acceptable equivalent (must have been completed within the last 3 years).
- As a baby and pre-school teacher, you would be responsible for planning, delivering and evaluating a series of progressive and fun lessons teaching babies through to pre-schoolers and their accompanying adult.
- You will be able to teach a range of aquatic and safety skills such as floating, rotation, water confidence and basic swimming strokes.
- You would be responsible for ensuring the lesson area and appropriate equipment is safe and promote good teaching and learning.
