Intensive Swimming Lessons in Dorset

Build confidence in the water and learn skills that will last a lifetime!

Intensive Lessons

Typically taking place in school holidays or half terms, with lessons held on consecutive days, our intensive swimming lesson courses give children the opportunity to build confidence, practise key skills and make focused progress in the water.

They are suitable for children who are new to swimming, those who need extra support with a particular skill, or benefit from additional practice.

Our intensive swimming lessons take place consecutively over 3 – 4 days, lasting 30 minutes per session at either Talbot Primary School or Hamworthy Park Junior School.

What happens during Intensive Swimming Courses

Where possible, your child will have the same swimming teacher each day. This consistency allows the teacher to understand their needs, build on progress from the previous lesson and provide a familiar, reassuring experience. On rare occasions, such as staff sickness, a different teacher may need to cover the session.

Our small-group intensive lessons have no more than five swimmers per class. We keep group sizes small so that each swimmer receives the individual attention and support needed to develop their skills.

Lessons are structured around the needs and abilities of the swimmers in the group and may focus on confidence, stroke technique, breathing, coordination or specific skills that require additional practice.

Benefits of intensive swimming lessons with Individuality Swimming

Focused skill development

Attending lessons on consecutive days gives children regular opportunities to practise and reinforce their swimming skills. This repeated practice can help improve technique, coordination and confidence in the water.

Building water confidence

For children who feel nervous or unsure in the water, an intensive course provides consistent, supported exposure over several days. Our teachers work at each child’s pace, helping them build trust and become comfortable in the pool.

Boost during the school holidays

Intensive courses are a great way to maintain momentum during breaks from regular lessons. They are particularly useful for swimmers who attend one of our term-time-only venues.

Preparation for holidays

Families may choose an intensive course before a holiday to help their child feel more confident around the pool. Lessons support safer swimming habits, but children should always be closely supervised around water.

 Specific swimming goals

Intensive lessons can provide extra time to focus on a particular skill. With consecutive lessons, swimmers can practise the same techniques regularly, receive focused feedback from their teacher and build on what they learned in the previous session.
